Josh Klumpe
Executive Director
Josh has spent the duration of his professional career in animal welfare, starting as an Animal Control Officer in 2007 for the City of Lafayette Police Department. After 6 years as an ACO, Josh was appointed the Chief Animal Control Officer. Josh spent over a decade as head of the department and was instrumental in pushing for professional development, fighting for change regarding local and state law, adding safety equipment to his officers, implementing policy and procedures, and advocating for the Animal Control profession. With over 17 years of animal welfare experience, he accepted the position of Executive Director in January of 2024.
Dr. Jessica Snyder
Medical Director
Dr. Snyder has spent 16 years as a veterinarian throughout Indiana, focusing on shelter medicine and high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter. Her current involvement with HS4GL has her combining her position of on-site Medical Director with a role as staff veterinarian in the shelter medicine department of Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. She is proud to welcome students from both the veterinary school and the vet tech program to the shelter to learn the basics of shelter medicine from the HS4GL medical team.
Lexi, our Foster & Volunteer Coordinator, has devoted the past few years to working with animals. She previously worked at Purdue's Small Animal Emergency department and also served as an assistant manager at a restaurant. Lexi is deeply committed to making a positive impact in the lives of all animals and establishing robust programs at our facility. She expresses great enthusiasm for engaging with the community at events and organizing enjoyable activities for our facility. In addition, Lexi serves as our TNR coordinator and is dedicated to helping control overpopulation in Tippecanoe County. She spends most of her free time at home with her 3 dogs and 3 cats. Lexi accepted the position in August of 2024.
Derek Bottorff
Director of Operations
Derek comes to HS4GL from an impressive career in animal welfare. He has been the head of operations for two humane societies and spent 5 years as an Animal Control Officer for the City of Lafayette Police Department. Derek’s time in animal welfare spans more than 11 years. Derek was appointed Director of Operations for the Humane Society for Greater Lafayette for his knowledge and experience in animal welfare and his skills in information technology. Derek accepted the position in January of 2024 and has been instrumental in developing HS4Gl.
Lisa Hughes
Veterinary Assistant
Lisa comes to HS4GL with a plethora of knowledge and experience. Lisa has spent 25 years in animal welfare. Her vast experience includes fourteen years as an animal emergency response professional and fifteen years in canine nutrition. Lisa has prior experience in shelter medicine and private practice clinics. Lisa works side by side with HS4GL’s veterinarian assisting with anything from vaccinations, surgery, herd management, and medical treatments. HS4GL is excited to have someone with specialty knowledge that comes only with time and experience.
